GDPR - Growing Desperate? Please Reply.

After months of waiting we are finally here- the date that the EU’s GDPR rules finally come into effect. Whilst not quite the same as a 5 year old waiting for Christmas, GDPR has loomed large on the business community’s consciousness for months if not years. In the UK, we now have the Data Protection Act 2018, which implements the GDPR into domestic law.

We want to help you by removing a lot of the burden which will be caused by putting in place the policies and procedures required of the GDPR.

If you are unfamiliar with GDPR and you have the responsibility (misfortune?) of dealing with this in your organisation:

  1. Where have you been?
  2. Our website provides some useful guidance on the new, updated law and what issues businesses need to address to ensure compliance;
  3. Visit the Information Commissioner’s Office website for significantly more detailed guidance.

While the new laws are implemented from today, the ICO’s office has made clear they are there to assist and if your business has not taken steps to review your data protection processes, you should not panic.

Miller Samuel Hill Brown can assist you in ensuring compliance, whether you require general advice on the changes made to the law or whether you need assistance in putting in place the required documents or policies all organisations now require to have to fulfil their data protection obligations. To mark “GDPR day”, we are offering clients a chance to obtain a full suite of GDPR template documents which will put your business on the road to compliance. For a fixed fee of £1500 plus VAT, we can provide you with:

  • Our guide to the GDPR;
  • data protection policy/ privacy standard for your staff;
  • data protection policy/ privacy standard for job applicants;
  • Data retention policy for employees;
  • general data protection policy re how your organisation should process personal data;
  • privacy standard for clients/ customers;
  • website privacy notice;
  • subject access request procedure; and
  • data breach reporting procedure.

So if you are behind schedule and need help in dealing with GDPR issues, we are happy to help. GDPR- Good Day (to) Put (things) Right!!!
